Ferris State history faculty member Christian Peterson will discuss the issue of voting and citizenship, delivering a broad overview of the struggle to secure universal suffrage in the United States and why voting is inextricably linked to the health of the American experiment in self-government.
Also emphasized will be that Americans need to be vigilant about defending their right to vote in light of various forms of voting restrictions and efforts to dilute the influence of some voters through practices like gerrymandering.
