Dress up, lace up, and start Halloween morning at Big Rapids City Hall for the Skeleton Skurry 5K Run/Walk/Roll. Packet pickup opens at 8 a.m. on Saturday, October 31, and the race begins at 10 a.m. Runners, walkers, and rollers of all ages and abilities are welcome, so you can sprint for a podium spot or stroll the course with the family in costume. Prizes go to the top three finishers and to the best costume, and every participant receives a t-shirt and a finisher's medal.

Proceeds benefit Angels of Action, which fights childhood hunger in Mecosta and Osceola Counties. Timing is provided by Epic Race Timing Co., and Ferris State University is a sponsor. Parking at City Hall is free.

The course is open to traffic and foot traffic, with traffic stopped at crossings as needed, so stay alert along the way. Stick around downtown afterward, since the Big Rapids DBA Fall Fest with trunk-or-treat, food trucks, and kids' activities runs the same morning on Michigan Avenue.
