Eleven bluegrass bands take the stage over two days at High in the Pines Campground for the second annual Pick'n in the Pines, a rustic, family-friendly weekend under the pines just off US-10 in Baldwin. Friday night's lineup kicks off at 7 p.m. with Full Cord, and Silver Creek Revival and The Smokin' Dobroleles round out a bill built for lawn chairs and bonfires rather than a formal stage setup. More than 40 vendors and six-plus food trucks fill out the grounds, and campers can settle in for the whole weekend on rustic tent or RV sites with no hookups, since High in the Pines keeps its festival low on infrastructure and high on the woods around it. Gate hours run 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. both days, with a quiet-generator cutoff at 8 p.m. so the evening winds down to acoustic sets and campfires. Day passes run $10 Friday and $20 Saturday, with weekend wristbands and campsites sold online in advance. Baldwin sits about 35 miles northwest of Big Rapids, an easy pairing with a Pere Marquette River paddle or a stop at the Shrine of the Pines museum on the way up.
