Experience an unforgettable night with Northern Stringworks, a group founded by multi-instrumentalist Budd Greenman to showcase the many talented traditional musicians he has worked with over the years. Joined by Ruby John and Erik White, the trio brings nearly 90 years of combined experience performing and preserving Michigan’s rich acoustic music traditions.

Ruby John, an Anishinaabe fiddler and member of the Grand Traverse Band, was raised within Michigan’s traditional music community. Her playing reflects a wide range of influences, including old-time, Métis, Irish, and French Canadian styles, shaped by years of sessions, contra dances, and fiddle gatherings across the state.

Guitarist Erik White is a longtime fixture in the regional acoustic scene, known for his work with groups such as The Round Creek String Band and other bluegrass and Celtic projects. His deep appreciation for traditional music began when he learned to build his first instrument.

Budd Greenman has performed for more than 30 years, beginning his musical journey in the Ferris Chamber Orchestra at age 13 before traveling throughout Michigan to learn fiddle from seasoned musicians. By 17, he was competing in Irish music competitions such as the Midwest Fleadh Cheoil.

Perfect for fans of folk, fiddle, bluegrass, and Celtic traditions, this concert offers a vibrant celebration of live acoustic music and Michigan heritage in West Michigan.
