Get ready to doodle, design, and discover hidden poetry during a hands-on creative workshop where art and words come together in unexpected and meaningful ways. This interactive experience invites participants to slow down, explore creativity, and find connection through both visual art and language.

Using the calming, meditative patterns of Zentangle art, participants will transform simple lines into intricate designs. No drawing experience is required, just an open mind and a curious pen. The workshop also introduces blackout poetry, encouraging guests to uncover new meaning within old book pages by revealing verses hidden between the lines.

Designed for ages 7 and up, this session offers a welcoming space for individuals and families to explore creativity together. All materials are provided, and participants are encouraged to bring only their imagination.

The workshop is facilitated by Carrie Weis of the Ferris State University Fine Art Gallery and Arthur Johnson of Artworks, and is presented as part of the One Book, One Community program. In 2025, community participants read and discussed The Anxious Generation by Jonathan Haidt, and this creative experience builds on themes of reflection, connection, and shared exploration.

Ideal for those seeking family-friendly art workshops, creative writing activities, and community arts programs in Mecosta County, this event offers a thoughtful and engaging way to connect through creativity.
