PLEASE NOTE THE NEW DATE!!
Ferris State University's Fine Art Gallery brings its first-ever Chalk the Walk to the Riverwalk on Saturday, October 3, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., inviting artists of every age to draw directly on the sidewalks along the Muskegon River at Hemlock Park.
Participation is free and chalk is provided, so anyone can show up and draw for fun, while three competition divisions give entrants a shot at art-related prizes: solo ages 13–17 (parental permission required), solo ages 18 and up, and groups of two to five people of any age.
The event is presented in partnership with Explore the Big Rapids Region, the Muskegon River Watershed Assembly, and Artworks, and it's open to the whole community, no registration or artistic experience required.
Questions go to Gallery coordinator Ana Phillips at anaphillips@ferris.edu, and visitors needing disability accommodations should contact the Gallery at least 72 hours ahead at 231-591-2571.
Pair a morning at the chalk competition with lunch downtown or a walk along the rest of the Riverwalk trail, since Hemlock Park sits right along the same path that runs through the heart of Big Rapids.
