Description
Brower Park spans 280 wooded acres in Stanwood, giving visitors access to 18 miles of navigable water along the backwaters of the Hardy Dam. Nearly 8,000 feet of river frontage frame the property, including a 1,000-foot sandy beach that anchors the park's swimming area. The campground offers 230 campsites and 10 Camp-N-Cabins, supported by three modern restroom buildings with showers and flush toilets, plus two additional vault toilets scattered through the property. Boat launches sit on both the north and south shorelines of Hardy Pond, giving anglers and boaters flexible access depending on where they're headed on the water. Beyond the waterfront, the park rounds out its offerings with tennis courts, disc golf, sand volleyball, horseshoes, and a baseball diamond, along with an amphitheater that hosts movie nights and other family programming throughout the season. Families return for the hayrides and organized arts and crafts activities that run alongside the more typical camping and swimming, giving kids something structured to do between trips to the beach. The park connects to the newer 45-mile Michigan's Dragon natural-surface trail that circles Hardy Pond, extending recreation options well past the campground's own boundaries. Brower Park sits within Mecosta County's larger parks system, alongside Paris Park, Tubbs Lake, and School Section Lake, and a vehicle permit is required for day-use entry in addition to standard camping fees. The day-use area and boat launch stay open year-round, even though the campground itself runs on a seasonal schedule.
