Artworks will have the works of five internationally known artists on exhibit and for sale this summer in the TCF Lower Gallery from May – August with a special preview May 8-19 upstairs in the Batdorff Gallery. These pieces are from the special collection of Charmaine Lucas and each is for sale.
Paul Collins was an internationally known artist whose career spanned five decades. Born in Muskegon, MI, he exhibited in some of the most prestigious museums and galleries and is credited with over 100 exhibitions from the Pushkin Museum in Moscow to the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C to the Studio Museum in Harlem, NY. Artworks is honored to have his portrait “Suzzie Uzzie” and “Showdown at Wounded Knee” on exhibit and for sale.
Leonardo Nierman is a Mexican Artist born in 1932. Leonardo Nierman's paintings vibrantly come to life as they capture the intensity and spontaneity of the dynamic forces that rule both nature and the cosmos. His full career includes numerous distinctions, awards, and exhibitions. Artworks is honored to have three pieces from the series “Poems of Fire” by Mr. Nierman on exhibit and for sale.
John Nieto was born in Denver, CO in 1936. He grew up in New Mexico and went on to study fine art at Southern Methodist University in Dallas during the late 1950s. After finishing school, he traveled to Paris where he first saw the Fauvist paintings of Henri Matisse and André Derain. Artworks is honored to have five pieces by Mr. Nieto on exhibit and for sale: “Song of the Eagles Wing” “Buffalo at Sunset” “Unnamed Wolf” “Wolf” and “Unnamed Eagle.”
Vic Runnels, Isnala Wica, was born on December 15, 1935 at Batesland on the Pine Ridge Reservation. Runnels attended public school in Gordon Nebraska for most of his school years, graduating from Pine Ridge High School. Inspired by the work of artists Oscar Howe and Andrew Standing Soldier, Vic Runnels began to study art in the early 1960s. He continued his commercial art studies at Ray-Vogue School of Design and the American Academy of Art, both in Chicago, that led him to a career as a successful commercial artist. Artworks is honored to have his work “Unnamed Mixed Media Indian” on display and for sale.
J D Challenger was born in Oklahoma. He paints the story of a people rich in heritage and traditions; stories sometimes poignant, often angry… but always powerful and demanding to be told. EArtworks is honored to have on exhibit “Song of the Eagles Wing" and “Lost Spirit Horse.”
