Halloween lands on a Saturday this year, and downtown Big Rapids is celebrating with the annual Big Rapids DBA Fall Fest, chaired by RE/MAX Together. The fun starts at 10 a.m. on N. Michigan Avenue with trunk-or-treat until noon, so costumed kids can trick-or-treat from trunk to trunk before lunch. Inflatables and a kids' fun area stay open until 2 p.m., and food trucks serve from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for families who want to turn the morning into a full afternoon. A pumpkin roll and a pie eating contest round out the lineup, with details to be announced closer to the date. Admission is free. Make it a downtown day by browsing the shops and restaurants along Michigan Avenue before or after the festivities.
