Knitting WorkshopsName: Knitting WorkshopsDate: February 19, 2019Time: 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM ESTWebsite: http://brfota.orgEvent Description:Knitters Anonymous seeks to provide fellowship and support for the art of hand knitting (crocheters are welcome to attend). Please bring your own yarn and needles. Four sessions will be offered on the Tuesdays of February in the United Church Parlor from 2 – 4:00pm. Refreshments will be provided. Participants will be asked to bring a donation for Project Starburst to each session – nonperishable food or handmade hats, mittens or scarves. If the weekly topic doesn’t interest you, come anyway and knit (or crochet) with us.
February 5: Show and Tell Bring a project, a unique stitch or a useful technique to share. Knitters and crocheters love to see what others are creating and how they are doing it. Or bring an easy FREE pattern to share and/or suggest a cause to knit or crochet for.
February 12: Let’s Talk About Short Rows Demystify the short row conundrum. We’ll explore several methods of achieving the same end: short row shaping of sweaters and socks, including the wrap + turn and German short rows.
February 19: Needle Felting Our guest and teacher will be Sheila Henry of Dances with Wool Farm in Reed City. She will join us to demonstrate and lead us in the creation of “fiber sculpture.” Everyone will go home with a new toy or ornament. All supplies will be provided.
February 26: Don’t Fear the Steek Explore the possibilities of incorporating a steek in your knitting. Put aside your fears of what happens when you take scissors to your knitting…on purpose! Try it yourself by knitting your sample in advance or just watch as others take the plunge!
