Beginning February 19, you may have noticed a billboard in the Grand Rapids area promoting all of the amazing outdoor recreational opportunities available in Mecosta County. An additional billboard will be going up in the Lansing area this coming June. These billboards are only one part of a multi-year campaign designed to increase tourism and the dollars it generates locally to the county. A coordination of billboards, radio, printed material along with local and state partnerships are all part of a comprehensive campaign planned by the Mecosta County Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB).

There are $22.8 billion dollars in travel spending that flows into Michigan annually and the Mecosta County CVB has been working on ideas to better promote our community as a destination. Given the abundance of outdoor activities Mecosta County offers, outdoor recreation was the obvious focus. One of the great things about the tourism is market is that it not only benefits our local lodging facilities but also our local businesses. This clearly covers our business goal at the C.V.B. as well as with our partners at the Band of Locals, “More heads in Beds & Bodies in Businesses”.
